A Day at Cliveden

I recently visited Cliveden, a National Trust property in Berkshire.  It was lovely day out and one that I hope to repeat very soon.  It is a vast property with trails, ponds, formal gardens, many areas perfect for picnics and parties.

Some favourite features of mine were the…

Peaceful Garden setting

The Formal Gardens…

The house which is now a hotel but can be visited between April and October on Thursday or Sunday afternoons.  As there was a wedding on whilst we were there, we were unable to tour the interior.

Tree-lined paths

Gorgeous grounds…

Peaceful spots to pause….

My verdict is to visit if you can.  Go for a walk, take a picnic, or stop in the Orangery for a cuppa.  It is a lovely place.

  1. It looks beautiful! You may know there’s also a Cliveden in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA. It’s not nearly as grand as this Cliveden. It was the home of Benjamin Chew, and the site of much of the fighting during the Battle of Germantown during the Revolutionary War.
